Remington S9620 Silk Ceramic Flat Iron Review

I have fine, thick, commonly straight hair past my shoulders, and utilize level irons basically for last styling of the closures and blasts. Infrequently I'll take the time to make a head loaded with twists, yet I don't normally have that much inspiration.

I discovered this level iron awesome for how rapidly it warms up, and how easily it goes with the hair. The clay plates likewise appear to give great sparkle to my copper hair. I additionally truly like having the capacity to control the temperature digitally - vastly improved than the old, high-medium-low settings of past years. The long swivel string was additionally another awesome highlight.

The Features

  • 2 Inch silk protein-infused wide ceramic plates
  • 455-degree digital salon high heat with digital temperature controls
  • 20-second heat up time and 60-minute auto shutoff
  • Floating plates for constant contact and faster styling
  • Temperature control lock to prevent overheating and a 4 year warranty
Product look: Very sleek. Very thin and smooth texture. The plates are also very smooth and the LCD screen is a nice touch. You can easily see what temperature you are going up to and it goes up to 455. It heats up very fast.

I use the 455 heat setting for my hair. The cord is long, not as long as others, but it's still longer than most drugstore straighteners. The red color is very pretty.

Ease of use: This product is very slippery as far as holding it goes. It's so smooth in texture that you need to hold it more towards the top where the two finger grips are so your hand does not slip while using it. But.. I like to hold my straightener at the base because that is most comfortable for me. If you use it up to 455 like I do, then be careful because of course it's hot.

But the plates slide right through my hair and it does get down to the root which is what you want.

Pros: Temperature control lock. 60 min shutoff safety option. Turbo heat up option (20 sec). 2-inch wide ceramic, protein infused plates. Swivel cord. Digital temperature display for better control over styling options. Smart design, very light and easy to use. the protein infused plates protect the hair and leave it healthy, smooth and shiny. 4-year warranty included.

Cons: The paddles in some pieces might not come together completely. The box it comes in might be very plain. Reported cases of shipping without a box.

Conclusion

I have been straightening my hair for over 11 years now and have used so many straighteners I lost count. The one I've used the last 4 years or so and that seemed to work well was the Remington Wet to Straight, after going through only 2 in 4 years I decided I wanted a different straightener. I bought this straightener last night and I have to say this is the BEST straightener I have ever bought before and I didn't have to spend a lot of money for it either. My hair has never been so soft before, and I only have to run it through my hair once or twice, normally I would do it 3 or 4 times. The 60 second heat up time is definitely a plus, and the 455 degree max heat is even better! I will be buying this straightener from now on, HIGHLY recommended! 5 stars!!!

Remington S5500 Digital Anti Static Ceramic Hair Straightener Review

Ok so I bought this flat iron last year and I hadn't started straightening my hair until then. When I used it I thought it was amazing because I wasn't used to my hair straight. Now most of the time I look at myself in the mirror and my hair is not straight hardly at all. I used my friends straightener and it stayed pin straight all day and night. I suggest you use a chi, solar, or palladium. They are much better. My friends flat iron was a palladium I definitely recommend it that to you.

  • 1 inch long ceramic plates infused with anti static technology
  • Digital temperature controls with a maximum 410 degree salon high heat
  • Floating plates with 30 second heat up and auto shut off
  • Salon style swivel cord
  • Auto Shut Off and a 2 Year Warranty

I owned a Chi before as well as a Paul Mitchell flat iron. So far..this Remington flat iron has been quite comparable to the two. Again "so far". I was not expecting it to work so well being that it is under $15. The only thing I don't like is the shorter cord. The professional irons have longer cords. But that's because it has to be long enough to walk around the stylish chair.

I purchased this iron for myself, so it's no biggie. It does smell a little funny when it heats up. But it doesn't make your hair smell or anything. I'm curious to see how long this iron lasts. It does have a 2 year warranty. It's so worth it. I'm very happy I bought this instead of another professional iron. However, I would only use this on my hair, not a client's.

The Good

  • Heats up immediately contrasted with different irons
  • Stays hot after different passes
  • Temp controls are useful, making this work with fine or thick hair
  • The shape and size of the iron make it perfect for both straightening and twisting
  • Works flawlessly as hair curling accessory in view of the adjusted edges and little size, its anything but difficult to turn and twist
  • Power line is sufficiently long and has a swivel where it joins, it's not going to get free or break
  • The value, I mean go ahead... under 20 bucks.. it's difficult to beat

The Bad

  • It's not going to keep going forever
  • After 2 years of utilization, the temp controls quit working

At the cost, it appears like two years of utilization is really great, thinking of it as is a little plastic machine that gets exceptionally hot and is utilized consistently. Indeed, the significantly more costly irons won't keep going forever. In any event with this one it's sufficiently reasonable that supplanting it is not an issue.

Conclusion

My hair type is thick (a lot of hair) Wavy 2A but is horrible to style. The smell was bad at first but went away. I loved how it straightened my hair (on the lowest setting) and even after shampooing it, it still kept a straightness to it. For hard to manage hair I originally LOVED this because it cut my styling time down significantly. BUT, after time I could no longer wear it wavy because I would straighten it daily.

I did not read the advice about getting a heat protectant and now I have fried not fully straight somewhat wavy hair (not cute at all!). I have not found a good heat protectant so have stopped using this until I find something to protect my hair (which has always been very pretty so I am now annoyed that I have fried hair). If you have fine hair FIND A HEAT PROTECTANT. If you always want straight hair then it's a good hair straightener.
